Anyone interested in moving to South Korea with me? OK, I know I’m not a good enough gamer to make six figures but I figure I’d be a decent supporting player for a Counter-Strike or Unreal Tournament team.
I guess I shouldn’t because I’d soon lose my affection for gaming (any “sport”—yes, even computer gaming—has that pressure factor and incessant practicing which makes it incredibly unfun after a while). Still. It would be an interesting thing to try, don’t you think?
I’ve managed to find myself with three blogs (two on Typepad, one on LJ) somehow. I’m sure I’ll delete at least one of these before too long. Or, maybe not. I’ve got to work out what I want to post where but it’s difficult to segregate oneself neatly, you know?
So, consider this space in flux. What’s here now may not be what I decide should be here later.
With that out of the way, here are a couple of shorts:
Dairy farmer David Iles provides my favorite quotation of the month, by far: “We are making money by not spending money.” I’ve come to appreciate that some things are better done on a smaller scale, or slower, than usual. I’m no farmer and I never will be, but what I’ve encountered recently leads me to believe that perhaps farming is something best pursued locally, in a modest scale and with an understanding of the land. Best, not always.
I found (and love) opening hooks: a collection of literary beginnings this afternoon. Whoever came up with the idea deserves much praise. And I hope it keeps growing. When it hit Boing Boing it had about 20 hooks. When I first got to it, there were 90. Last I looked, it was at 145. Go on. Contribute your favorites.
